When did you switch car seat from rear to forward facing?

My son is about to turn 2, the minimum age for forward facing car seat where I live. So many people are almost pressuring me to switch and saying things like “I bet you can’t wait until he doesn’t have to be rear facing!” But I’m actually not at all anxious to switch him. He’s perfectly happy rear facing, and it is safer.

I won’t be forward facing my kiddos till all height, weight and age limits are met. Definitely wouldn’t before 3/4 yrs old.

We are going for age 4! I've just read a lot about the bone development/safety difference in rear facing until that age. She is a few months past 2 now and perfectly fine rear facing, we have no issues so we feel no need to switch her now anyway.

Personally we had to flip our daughter around not too long after she turned 1 because she just got so tall and big so fast 😂. Her feet would be well up the seat and almost to the headrest by the time we switched her around. The dr said that it was all good since she was so big 🤷🏼‍♀️. It just depends on the kiddo. I used to babysit this one little girl for a friend a lot and she was almost two and still in a carry car seat so it really just depends on the kid 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why ask when someone else did it when you can ask your pediatrician or refer to this national site on car seat safety?

My son is 3 and still rear-facing. Hoping to keep him that way until he reaches the weight limit (which is 10lbs away) but when baby brother moves into a convertible in my husband’s car we might not be able to safely fit them both rear-facing so 3yo might have to turn. Hoping that’s not the case.

I'll be keeping my kid rear facing for sure until the age of 2, and likely until he hits the height limit as well. Weight limits our kids probably won't hit, as both my husband and I were very skinny kids and didn't hit 100lbs until high school 😂
But age and weight I plan to reach before making any carseat changes.

The safest thing is to keep him RF 😁 all these people talking about how their babies were "too big" and "squished"... like no you would much rather have your baby have a broken leg from being "squished" than a broken neck from facing forward in an accident ☹ 
I have a girlfriend who was in a serious accident and previous to this accident had been debating on FF her son. I made this same recommendation to her and when the police officer went to get her son, he had not a single scratch on him. The officer literally told her that the carseat saved his life.

My eldest was rear facing until 4.5. My second is 2.5 and forward facing due to unbuckling her death and climbing out while we are driving. I’m hoping to be able to rear face her again soon once we can figure out a way to stop the unbuckling

Where I am the minimum age is 6 months 😯 my bub is 18months though and will leave her rear facing as long as she fits

My son is 19 months and we will be switching him to forward facing at 2 years. He is 34-35 inches tall and weighs 34 lbs so he’s already pretty squished rear facing. If he was on the smaller side I would continue to leave him rear facing.
