Credit score

Two years ago when I purchased my car, I was sitting at like 480 with my credit score. It was bad. I got into a terrible car loan with 30% interest!

I clearly had zero financial knowledge. I grew up in a family that didn’t have much and what we did have...wasn’t well-managed. I didn’t know how to save or properly use credit cards. I was a hot mess, and it left me with a less than impressive credit score.

I met my SO about 2.5 years ago, and he has been helping me figure out my credit. He is an accountant and much more financially savvy than I am. Haha. We spent a lot of time working on paying off debt, opening new cards and paying them off each money, refinancing my car, etc.

Today, I looked at my credit report and I am sitting at a 740. 😮 It blew my mind. I never imagined I could fix the disaster I had created. I still have $130,000 in student loans weighing my down, but I have 99% on time payments, 5% of total credit being used currently, and $50,000 of available credit.

I know it is easy to give up. I know it looks like you will never get out of debt and your credit will suck forever. I encourage you to just keep at it. Make smart decisions and give it time. ❤️
