I sprayed my tree with cat repellent from Amazon. It keeps both of them out. We also built an enclosure for our tree to keep our toddler away from it.

Put orange, lime or lemon peels in the tree. Cats hate citrus and is a natural repellent. They also don’t like bananas but wouldn’t suggest using banana peels. My cats hate bananas and have used orange peels in the past.

You don't. Lol I went through three trees last year. No tree this year. Kinda sad cuz the kiddos love it. Might get a wall decal of a tree instead.

We used tin foil as a tree skirt. When she was a kitten, we had tin foil everywhere in the house.

Put up a baby gate around the tree and puts bells in the tree so you’ll know when  the cat jumps into the tree so you can spray it with water
