Do they put you on antibiotics after impacted wisdom teeth removal?

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out that hadn’t grown in yet. They gave me antibiotics maybe a week prior to decrease risks of infection & They put me to sleep and I was given pain medicine to take home.

I think it depends. I’ve had my wisdom teeth removed twice (tops and bottoms separately like 7 years apart) and the first time they gave me antibiotics to take at home and the second time they only gave me antibiotics thru the IV during the procedure. Maybe it depends on how impacted they are or something 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was given some to take the morning of and given some for a few days after along with a antibiotic mouth wash.

Usually an oral antibiotic if they feel its needed.
