How and when did you decide to have a 2nd child?

My daughter is almost one and part of me thinks it’s a good time to start trying for another, but another part says it’s better to wait until she’s older and more independent.

My first and second are 18 months apart, second and third will be 17 months apart. All planned. 
I wanted them close in age so they would enjoy a lot of the same toys and activities and grow up playing together. (My younger brother and I were 12 months apart and we did everything together. I loved growing up with my best friend). 
Having them close together is a bonus for me too. It may be a lot of work right now but we are getting it all over with in one shot rather than just getting out of the diapers and strollers stage and then starting all over again.

We always planned to have the close together. We started trying when our oldest was 10 months old. I have a thyroid problem and so it took a few months after starting medication for me to be fertile again. As soon as my TSH level was good, I got pregnant. They are 19 months apart. It is tiring, but we started having kids in our 30s and we we want them to be best friends growing up. Every family is different. Do what is best for you all.

We started after my daughter was 4 months old my second wasn’t conceived until my daughter was 18 months. My son was conceived when my second was 2 years and 1 month. After trying from just after her first birthday! 
I like the 2-2.5 year age gap between my kids

when my daughter was 6 months I asked my doctor. He checked me out to see if I was all good, tested my blood to make sure my iron was back where it needed to be, and said go ahead. I had gallbladder surgery and that delayed us trying until she was 9 months old.

I would’ve liked a 3 or so year age gap but I am almost 40 so time is not on our side. We started trying when my son was 9 months. He just turned 2 years old and we are just now in our first cycle of IVF after over a year of trying and two miscarriages. I’m glad we didn’t wait.

We started trying when my daughter was a year and half it actually took us almost 2  yrs to conceive I'm currently  26 weeks with a baby boy , one thing of advice I wanna give just from my experience  don't consume yourself with it . We tried everything  and finally I did a cycle of letrozole and bam it worked,!!! I wish u all the luck

we started trying after my daughters 2nd birthday and got pregnant after 6 months and had our son a few months after her 3rd birthday. personally i like the slightly bigger age gap.
