4 week old lots of gas!? Anyone else?

Hi everyone!! So my baby is 4 weeks old right now almost 5 weeks. He has been so gassy for the past few weeks. We have done the gas drops. I’m not really sure they work for us. I have also done an Infant massage class. They thought me a few different techniques to ￼ massage his belly. They do help but he’ll be sleeping and be screaming and I’ll give him a few minutes and then he’ll either stop or not. If he doesn’t I gently push his legs up to his chest and he lets out the longest farts!! Anyone else having gas issues!?!?￼￼

Yes!! At 3 weeks we even went to the er cause my baby boy was arching his back he was so stiff ,crying , didn't want to sleep and was eating less ..I started giving him gas drops and gripe water  at the er they recommended football hold and vibration ... I now occasionally give gripe water  still give gas drops and just started him on probiotic drops. What made a huge  difference and helped soothe him is a vibrating swing but I also  purchased a tranquilo vibrating mat size small so we could use when we go out.. it helps put him to sleep so fast it's the best especially when he is in his car seat

This happened to us at 3 weeks and he was inconsolable! Started probiotics, use gas drops intermittently, and also used the windi very selectively to give relief when nothing else worked. He's like a different baby at 5 weeks.

My 5 wk old is very fussy and gassy as well. We use Little Remedies gas drops and gripe water and find that to be very helpful. I read that they will grow out of this after 2-3 months, crossing my fingers. Keep using the gas drops a few times a day, Good luck!

Yes! Part of it I figured out was she was swallowing excess air as I used the nipple shield. So we’ve been working on weaning from that and she had her first full two days without it and I’ve noticed a significant difference in her amount of gas and discomfort.
The next thing I suggest (with caution) is to use the Windi if (and only if) they just can’t seem to pass anything after doing tummy massage and leg work. My baby was sooo miserable and just screaming in pain last week. Her poor tummy was so distended. I rushed out and bought the Windi and used it. Immediately she was passing huge amounts of gas (and poo 💩 lol) but she was instantly happy!
I definitely reserve the Windi for those rare times when she’s beyond my abilities to help her. I suspect it gets used to often and have read cautions against overuse (talk to your doc first?) but it did help our baby girl.
Gas drops - might have helped? Hard to tell. I think the main culprit for me was my fast letdown and the nipple shield. I could hear her swallowing air.

Thank you!! My oldest is 11 ! There is a lot of hair don’t remember having with him. It’s crazy how many years can go by and it’s like I’ve never done this before! 😅

🙋‍♀️ me! I think it’s just their young digestive systems. 4-12 weeks is their peak time to have it the worst. My first was the same way and he grew out of it. We would pump his legs like you’re doing to help. My second is 4 weeks old and he’s the same way. Sometimes we just lay him down on his back and let him kick his legs and work it out. I try to make him take breaks when he’s eating too. Sounds like you’re doing everything right, it’s just part of it.
