How much do you set your LO down?

Question

I mean I know our newborns aren't always willing to be set down 😂, but when they are, how often do you set them down so you can get stuff done or just to have some "alone" time. For some reason I always feel so guilty putting my son in his swing or to lay down on his mat. But I also know it's not feasible to literally hold him all day long. Ugh these mommy hormones are no joke

I completely agree with the guilt. She loves being held and I feel like I just can’t put her down sometimes! When I do, I feel guilty “ignoring” her so I end up playing with her and talking to her on the play mat instead of taking that opportunity to take a breather.  Generally, I set her down in her swing to shower and dry my hair and she’s pretty good about that. Otherwise, If she’s in a calm mood, I’ll set her down on her lounger sometimes to fold the laundry quickly or something but I usually stop and pick her up if she gets upset 😬. It’s exhausting! I’m looking forward to her being able to use the jumper thing once she has head control! I think she’ll like that and she can go in it while I do things.

I think it's good for them to have a little bit of alone time to learn they can entertain themselves. I will lay my 5wk old on the activity mat for tummy or back time or the swing or bouncer & go do something in the kitchen. I randomly talk to him or come in the livingroom to say hi so he knows he's not alone, but he's totally fine & seems to enjoy that. Not long amounts of time but enough to quickly clean up the kitchen, etc

I lay my daughter on her mat for timmy time or to look at he hanging things after each feeding for as long as she is content. I will read to her, play her music or just talk to her

My LO gets laid down.. a lot. Having a toddler doesn’t allow me to constantly hold her like I did when her brother was a newborn. I’ve found that there’s benefits to that.. she can self soothe better than he ever did, she’s content not being held constantly, and she’s even happy when she’s not. She likes to stretch and kick her legs and look around.

I try to get tummy time and back time in right after she wakes from her naps. Read to her and just play with her whether on a mat or on my lap or held until shes hungry. Diaper change then feed then nap again. I get things done when shes napping. If i realllly have to hold her ill use a carrier and multitask that way

I will lay her on her mat for tummy time (although she isn’t very keen on it for long) or on her back otherwise she loves her swing. 
The mum guilt is so crazy isn’t it!

A lot. I held my daughter way more than I hold my son but she was the only one. Now that I have two, I can’t hold the baby all the time. When she’s at preschool, I try to hold him as mich as I can but that’s also my time to do housework, homework, run errands, etc. so it depends on how much I actually have to do that day.

In the morning my son is usually in his swing for a 2 hour nap so I can get some things done. My living room is open to kitchen so I can see him but I'm a type A and need my space clean. Once the house is cleaned up to my liking I rotate throughout the day. If i'm reading or watching tv I have him sleep on my chest or sit in boppy right next to me so I can stroke him/talk to him. I also have a vibrating bouncer he seems to like. I just see what he seems to enjoy most in that moment.
