Membrane Sweep or Induction??

Question

At my doc appt on Dec 2nd, I was able to get my membranes swept, but I denied it. My doc also reserved a spot for me at L&D, if baby girl doesn’t come, I’ll be getting induced on Dec 15th. My due date is Dec 8th. I’m a ftm and trying to figure out if I should get my membranes swept at my next appt, Dec 9th, or allow her to come when she wants and if she doesn’t by my induction date, then I’ll get induced. What would you do in my shoes??

As someone who is about to be induced for medical reasons and not particularly excited about it, I think you should have accepted the membrane sweep because it can make things happen naturally. Not always, but it can. I was going to have it done yesterday but my cervix isn’t open so I was really bummed out. Being induced seems long and miserable. Especially if all of my efforts are for nothing and I end up needing a c-section anyway. Just my two cents.

I would sweep before having to be induced! Only because the sweep won’t work if your body isn’t ready to go into labour, it just activated the hormones to get it all started. And if you’re lucky and your body is ready, you might have your baby before having to be induced!

Get your membranes swept. Had mine swept at 41 weeks and went into labor naturally that evening. Getting induced is not pleasant if you don’t absolutely have to. Just my two cents

I’ll be induced at 39 weeks. I’ll be 37 weeks tomorrow. My doctor said she can sweep membranes at my 38 week appt if I’d like.. and personally I will accept even if it doesn’t put me in labour it might make me more favourable for induction..
With my first I had a sweep at 38 weeks 1cm fialated I don’t remember if she mentioned thinned or not but when I went into get induced at 39 weeks I was 3cm dilated and 60% thinned( or something close)... 
if it was related or just coincidence I don’t really know but I’d rather go into labour naturally then medically.. 
but that being said I want to be favourable for induction if it’s needed. So I’d pick a sweep
