Do tattoos done in color last?

I am considering getting a tattoo with color in it, but I'm concerned with the colors fading. Anyone have tattoos done in color that have lasted several years without fading?

Tattoos are automatically going to fade, especially more so if you’re someone like me and loves the sun. Even tattoos done in black will fade over time. It’s inevitable.

i have black & colored tattoos. the black tattoo on my chest is more faded than the black one on my ribs from tanning. it depends on placement & how well the color was done in the first place. i got one that was a really light pink color & had to get it done twice, but my artist told me that when i picked the color out.

If you get a color tattoo you need to touch it up every 3-5 years depending on sun exposure. Regular black and gray tattoos need to be touched up every 10 years. I have a color tattoo on my left forearm and it still hasn’t faded and on schedule I’m going to get it touched up in 2 years.

How long any tattoo lasts depends on the quality of the artist, how your skin reacts to pigment, sun exposure/placement. I have my entire back covered that gets various exposure and nothing has faded. I also have a couple white tattoos that are perfect (but I'm very pale so white shows up more on me), my thigh, ankle and wrists. Nothing I have has never needed touch up and my oldest tattoo is 18 years old
