First doctor’s visit?

Hey all! First timer here...I’m 5w6d according to this app. Went to the doc and got a blood test last week so yup, I’m pregnant! Then she told me to book my first appointment with her at 12 weeks. Is this a bit late, do you think? Seems like many of you have been to the doc already. If I don’t see her for another 6 weeks, do you guys have any tips on what I should be doing? I’ve seen all the lists of things I can’t eat, and I’m taking Folic acid. Is that about it?....
