Rough few days
My daughter became irritable saturday afternoon. It was odd, she would just randomly cry out and then take 15 to 20 minutes to calm. She has reflux so we genuinely rhought it was something with that. That night at about midnight she felt a bit warm so we took her temp and it was 100.1. We contacted doc and they advised tylenol and to come in the next day. She couldnt swallow the tylenol, would immediately throw it up so we ended up doing suppositories. It worked but we had to give her the med right at the time bc her fever kept coming back, and higher. She got up to 101.9 that morning. She had no other symptoms other than random fussiness and fever. Our doc checked her ears, nose, throat, teeth, nothing wrong. He said maybe a tummy bug and to continie feverall and if not gone by the next day come back. Her fever continued. We went in for blood draws which they had to stick her twice and the second time they accidentally ripped the needle out of her arm! They then let us know they didnt have enough blood and had to do it again. Luckily that time they chose to prick her heel instead. We did an x ray of her chest, all clear. Our doctor went over the results and nothing stood out. They decided to get a urine sample. We had to do a catheter and i held her down for it. Miserable. BUT as soon as the urine started into the tube i knew it was the issue. Her pee was insanely cloudy, like, you wouldnt be able to see through it. She had a severe bladder infection. We are doing antibiotic injections over the next three days and continuing feverall. I feel awful for her. Her fever got up to 102.5 tonight but she seems better now. I am emotionally a wreck but so glad we know now. My doc said wed have to continue to watch for these bc it is very odd for a baby this young to have one let alone one this severe. I ised to get utis and bladder infections a lot when i was younger so it looks like ive passed it to her. 😭😭😭
