Where can I get help with buying a car seat?

I have two babies. A two and a half year old and a 9 month old.  My son grew out of his carrier a long time ago. I’ve been driving round in my husbands car because my car doesn’t have two car seats for my kids.( I can move them back and forth to my car but it’s too cold outside to keep doing that.) We are low on money. Maybe I can get a credit card to buy them? I’m not thrilled about opening another credit card but I might have to. Does anyone know where I can get help buying car seats? I also keep looking on Facebook market place but no luck.

So I did a quick search and Car Seats for the Littles (a reputable site run by Child Passenger Safety Technicians) has a page on “Resources for free and reduced price seats”. 
Here are a few resources that may be able to provide free and reduced price seats:
1) Local Safe Kids Coalition – Many Safe Kids coalitions supply free or reduced price seats or can recommend where they can be acquired in your area.  To find a local coalition, please check the Safe Kids website.
2) Local CPSTs – Even if you don’t have a local Safe Kids Coalition, many communities still have certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) that can direct you where to go.  Go to Safe Kids’ CPS Certification website and click on Find a technician/instructor on the right hand side of the page. This search works best if you enter only your county or larger city area.
Resources for Free and Reduced Price Seats3) Local fire and police departments – Even though not all firefighters and police officers are certified CPSTs, these public servants can often direct you to local resources.
4) Local hospitals
5) Local women’s and children’s services –  WIC,  Department of Public Health, Dept of Child Services or other similar groups
6) Call 211 for Essential Community Resources.  If available in your area, this service can direct you toward local resources.
It is NOT recommended to acquire seats from eBay, Craigslist, garage sales, thrift or consignment stores.  The history of these seats are unknown, so there’s no way to know if they have been crashed or mistreated in some way.  The general rule of thumb is only use a used seat if you trust the previous owner with your child’s life.

I’m not aware of any assistance programs, but the Cosco Scenera next is around $40 at Walmart. It’s a convertible car seat rated for Rear-facing 5-40 lbs ; Forward-facing 22-40 lbs
This seat should definitely work for your 9 month old and probably your 2.5 year old as well (depending on their size). 
We use these seats when we travel and my 2.5 year old still fits just fine, as does my 1 year old.

Please use the resources listed above rather than finding one used on marketplace (or anywhere else, for that matter). We use the scenera as a travel seat and it's really great and very affordable!

I’m in Nh I’m not sure what insurance your children have but some insurance companies will mail you a brand new free convertible car seat for each child it’s worth calling they actually send out pretty nice car seats too
