Flying nonstop or with layover?

Question

So we are traveling home for Christmas and we have never flown with our baby. She will be 8 months then. The flight is a little over 3 hours nonstop or we can do a layover about halfway. Which is better?! I know she will not sleep on the flight lol and I am terrified of flying so it’s going to be great😫 will breaking it up be easier so she can get off the plane, or suffer for over 3 hours holding her? Buying her a seat is not an option due to price. Any advice please!

Youll just make the traveling longer with a lay over. Id do a direct flight.

I’ve flown plenty of times when my son was a baby. When he was younger I always tried to get nonstop flights. They’re a lot easier than trying to run around catching a layover with a baby. Also you can run into delays and missing your connecting flight and it’s not something you wanna experience with a baby. I’ve done it and it’s extremely stressful. 3.5 hours isn’t much I would definitely stick it out. You could also get out of the aisle and stretch and walk back and forth to help soothe your baby. Bring plenty of snacks and toys the little one can play with to help!

Non stop! It's the only way I'll travel with my son (unless it's over 6 hours).

We did a 4-hour flight with my son when he was 9 months. I would definitely say do NOT opt for a layover if you can swing a non-stop financially. You're just giving baby even more time to get cranky/overwhelmed/overtired. I was riddled with anxiety that he was going to be a little nightmare, and my son was absolutely amazing on the plane...smiling at everyone, flirting with the flight attendants, and just looking around at everything going on. If you can keep your anxiety and stress in check, baby will definitely pick up on that.

I would definitely say nonstop. Takeoff and landing is the hardest part because that’s when her ears will pop. So I’d say only do 1 takeoff and 1 landing.

I think she’d be fine on it. I’ve flown about 12 hours with no stops. 3 hours would be cake.
