Induced?

So, this is my first pregnancy. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 28 weeks. I’m 34 weeks and 4 days now, and I’m going to the doctor tomorrow to get his measurements again. With that being said, I’m wondering if I’m going to be induced at 38 weeks? I’ve seen so many women who’ve had to be with gestational diabetes. What is the likelihood, I mean? He’s measuring way ahead, as in, he was one ounce away at 32 weeks from being 5lb.

If you have GD and are on medication (insulin, metformin, etc) you are more likely to be induced early, typically around 39 weeks. Sometimes people are induced a little earlier if they are showing signs of preeclampsia. But it differs from doctor to doctor. I was on insulin and metformin but my numbers were well controlled so my OB was ok with me going to my due date if I wanted.

Well my son is measuring two weeks ahead right now. I will be 35 weeks Sunday. He is measuring at 6lb and 3oz.

I was induced at 39 weeks 2 days. They told me it's normal to not let a mother go past 40 weeks if she has gestational diabetes, for the safety of baby. My daughter wasn't measuring big either.
