Newborn napping ??

Question

The past few days my 2.5 week old has been having deep/heavy sleeping naps from like 11:00-3 or longer even...
He'll fuss and nurse for a few minutes here and there throughout.
I cant seem to fully wake him to eat properly.
And- should i try to keep him awake so he sleeps more at night?
How long is/did your 2-3 week old sleep during the day?

The hospital told me when I was in the hospital that they will either wake up when they are hungry or you will have to wake them and not to let them go for more than 4 hours without eating. I had the same problem at first without my baby not wanting to wake to feed but they gave me a book with some tips like changing their diaper of tickling their feet to try and wake them. Now she eats on her own about every 2 hours!

If baby is back to birth weight, no need to wake them.

In my experience you can’t keep a newborn awake and it just leads to a grumpy baby.

Does he sleep well at night? My little guy normally doesn't sleep more than 3 hours at a time during the day but will sleep for 5+ hours at a time at night. I personally don't wake him to eat I just feed him on demand, he wakes on his own when he is hungry.
