Planning a wedding!?

My fiancé (I love saying that lol) got engaged on Sunday and I wanna start planning the wedding but I have NO idea where to start. I’m the first of all my friends and family to get engaged so I’m asking all y’all on Glow to help me out here and give me the best advice because I’ve never even helped plan a wedding at all before!!

Pick out what’s really important to you. My husband and I married young and inexpensively. It was a beautiful day however I wish we had splurged in video/photos. When I walked down the aisle he cried and it was the most beautiful I have ever felt. I have no film of it sadly

I was the same. We got engaged at the end of July and we’re getting married in March on our 9 year anniversary. We live in Texas so We knew we wanted a rustic themed wedding somewhere in the country. Once we found the venue it kinda all started to fall into place. But the prices add up fast! Luckily my aunt makes wedding cakes so we didn’t have to pay for that. We went to a wedding expo and I won a photo booth so that’s awesome. And Before my grandpa passed away when I was 7 he had told my grandma he wanted to put back 2000$ for whenever I got married to help pay for my dress since he wouldn’t be around to help out with anything else. That was the best surprise ever when she told me. So far the most expensive thing was the venue.

Save save save. Decide what kind of wedding YOU and fiance want amd stick to it. If you want a big bash you need to pick a venue first

Figure out the type of wedding you want, big or small, inside or outside, how many people, and your budget. Once you figure that out start looking at venues, you will want to book early because quite a few get booked out for the same depending on the place! I did Lakeshore weddings in Vegas, it was way cheaper and pretty! We wanted small and wanted our money to go towards other things like honeymoon!

I’d start with a budget, be realistic with this too - things add up SO easily. 
Come up with a guest list so you have a headcount for venues, food, drinks. 
That’s a good jumping off point, then I’d google “wedding planner - diy” you can get something to print & follow or Hobby Lobby even has one. Basically a binder with checklists & guidelines to help keep you organized.
