I've just finished the series and I feel so weird. I have so many questions! Have any of you read the books? What's your opinion on the upcoming Netflix show?

I have the first 3 books in the series but haven't started them because I want to read the two books of ahort stories first... did you find it necessary to read the short stories first for the series as a whole to be better?
