Ultrasound Question

I am supposed to go for my first ultrasound to check for viability when I’m 7 1/2 weeks on December 17th. This is my first pregnancy so I’m learning as I go, but will we get actual photos to take home from the ultrasound that day?? My husband and I would like to tell our families we are expecting over the weekend before christmas, which is a few days after our appointment and I don’t want to be really disappointed or surprised if we don’t receive a physical ultrasound photo that day. Does anyone know?
