defying all odds

To start my story, I got pregnant for the first time at 16. I was kicked out and ended up losing the pregnancy. I had to move in with my drug addict mom just to graduate high school. The day of my graduation i moved out and moved in with my child’s father. Everyone said that we wouldn’t last. That he isn’t a good guy. We got engaged on my 18th birthday (the August after graduation). No one was very excited for us. We planned and paid for our whole wedding ourselves. A year later at the ages of 19 and 20 we got married. At our wedding reception my father in law and my husbands best man made a bet on how long we’d be married for. His best man lost on our one year anniversary and in October 2020 his dad will lose the bet as we will be married for 5 years. We got pregnant again almost right away and that time it ended with a beautiful baby girl who is now three. We heard a lot of negativity. We heard that we threw our lives away. I was told that I was never going to be more than working at a daycare (as if there was something wrong with that) my husband landed an amazing job with a major corporation and a few months later I landed a really good job with a software company. We kept working towards our dreams. Silently we’ve been moving forward. We bought a house and two new cars. On December 2nd of this year we welcomed our second baby girl and are now a family of 4 and as of 9am today I am a college graduate!! Yes I am 23, married, mother of 2, I was a non traditional, online student and today I graduated with my degree in business administration with a minor in economics. I am so proud of myself!
