HPV positive. Did he cheat or something else?

So i have to get a LEEP done because I tested positive for HPV. 
I have been with 2 men in my life. The first, we lost our virginities to each other and never cheated. We broke up and I'm with someone else. He said his ex always got yearly check ups and she never had abnormal cells. He's been with me and now I have HPV. Is it possible he cheated on me? I'm trying to pinpoint how I got this and after the LEEP I want to make sure I will be safe.
He swears he did not cheat on me, but I find it odd that between me and his ex there was no one else he slept with? She doesn't have HPV but I do? 
I do not want to danger my health. Is it possible I did not get this sexually? I've read about it being possibly passed on from a parent (mother) to her embryo but I am unsure.

This is no way means he cheated. Please do some more research on how easily this is spread and how you could have had it before but it been dormant.

HPV can lie dormant for a while before it finally shows up. I don’t think it means he cheated.

You ca. Have hpv for years before it shows . So unless you have other reason to believe he cheated then I wouldn’t start accusing

HPV can be dormant for 6 years. We found I had it 2 years into our relationship. I got it from my ex husband who cheated- A LOT.

He says his ex didn’t have it, but it’s possible she does , Bc it lies dormant for years for some people and they’ll never know they even have it until years later .. so she may be testing fine now, but still spread it. And men have no way of testing for it, so you really wouldn’t know who have it to you, unless like you said, you were both virgins and you’re 100% sure no one cheated. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong? But this is what I’ve read, at least 🤔

Unfortunately men cannot be tested for HPV

One of the individuals you have had sex with or sexual contact (skin to skin) had the virus. Yes it take up to 6 years for it to show up, so depending on when you slept with the first guy and the current guy will help you decide how you got it.
