No sprinkle no new baby stuff and I'm stressed

So I was totally going to have a sprinkle to celebrate my second baby, but my mom told me it's rude and only the first baby gets a party... I wasn't expecting gifts or anything like my shower for my son, and I was going to just have it at my house with those who wanted to come, now I feel bad because regardless of gender this baby is getting only hand me downs and we don't have any essentials, I know some of my family would've been more than happy to celebrate the new baby, but now I'm just stressed and sad. Anyone else not ready for the arrival of their January babes??
