IUD didn't work for me... And now I am worried about my options
I had a copper IUD put in January 2017 and I never had any issues with it until earlier this month when I found out I was pregnant!! It was an emotional roller coaster figuring things out with my boyfriend but ultimately we both agreed that since it was so early in the pregnancy, I can still put my health and mental wellbeing first and go for a medical abortion. The obgyn was very supportive with me and ended up finding my copper IUD mangled up and stuck inside my cervix, which I suspect was why I became pregnant. The doctor said that although I was extremely unlucky, IUDs are still the most effective methods of birth control but now I am wary of it. I'm not sure if it's just a one off extremely rare chance that this happened to me or if my body just doesn't like having the IUD inside me. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What birth control did you end up getting afterwards?
