Can we still have sex?

Question

I had a cervical cancer smear test which came back with abnormal cells - I started seeing someone in February, we didn’t have sex until late April (when it was exclusive - even though it already was.. For me at least) he broke up with me in May after he cheated on me. Then (long story but we’re good now) we got back together late June. 
I was completely clean before I started seeing him and I know because I got the merina coil so they had to test me for everything - I haven’t been with anyone else in that time. 
There is no HPV test for males - I had the vaccinations when I was younger so I’m immune to a few of the highest risk strains e.g. 16&18 and don’t have any warts BUT, my question is - 
Even if I’m immune to strains 16&18, could he have those but I only have another kind? And if so, is it safe for us to have sex again without me being at more risk of getting strains 16&18? 
I’m working on getting a doctor to answer my questions but it’s taking a while getting one here so I thought I’d message here in the mean-time. Any help with those 2 questions would be great please!

I hate to break it to you but having the vaccines doesn’t necessarily mean ur immune to anything. I had all three shots and still had to have a LEEP procedure bc I had precancerous cells due to HPV.

HPV can lay dormant for years. So even tho you didnt test positive before, doesn't mean you didnt have it. Additionally, a vaccine doesn't mean you cant get something. 
Practice safe sex and use a condom, but I'd wait to hear from the doctor before engaging in those activities just to be safe.
