Cervical checks???

Two questions for this FTM-

One- what happens at a cervical check exactly? 37 weeks and havn't had one yet, just want to know what to expect etc

Two- I have two appointments on the same day, one with my obgyn and his midwife in the morning and one at the hospital around 4 hours after that with hospital midvives.

They have BOTH said I need cervical checks at my appointments

Do i have to do two in one day or can I tell one of them I'm having/had one at the other appointment and just get them to look up my health records for the results?
