Unpaid hospital bill

A couple of months ago my husband went to urgent Care because he was having severe stomach pain and they said for sure that his appendix is about to burst that we needed to go to the ER immediately. We went even though we don't have insurance and it turns out it wasn't his appendix he had some kind of infection in his stomach. My question is we haven't been able to pay the hospital bill and we recently got our final notice if we can't pay will they take it out of our taxes or will it hurt our credit? Please don't judge we have been going through a lot of financial struggles lately.

Yes we went for assistance and they sent us to Medicaid but Medicaid won't help cover the hospital bill and we can't afford to make payments right now.

Sorry I won't reply to any comments I'm just incredibly embarrassed by this. The bill for the X-ray and the hospital visit is around 1,500 and we don't have any money is savings at all and cant afford payments right now. What do you think they will end up doing?
