Clapping was really hit or miss, usually miss, for my son at 10 months but he definitely figured it out later.

As long as LO is showing other gestures (waving, pointing...etc.) It's normal and I wouldn't be concerned.

My son is 17 months old and just got to clapping last month. Babies take onto what they want to. Don't put too much thought into it.

My son just turned a year and he still won’t clap. I’ve wondered the same thing!
