Boiling Formula Water?

Question

I want to begin supplementing my breast milk with formula. I have purchased nursery water in a gallon jug. Do I need to boil the nursery water prior to use? Do I need to refrigerate the gallon once opened? Once opened, how long can I keep the gallon for?

The only reason to boil water from my understanding is to sterilize the formula you add to it as formula is apparently not made in a sterile environment. I never did it with my daughter and I don’t with my son either though. 😬🤷🏻‍♀️

We just use tap water, boil it in the kettle, and let it cool to room temp. We premake our formula and refridgerate it in one of those workout protein shaker bottles (good for 24hrs premade). We have 4 milk bottles we rotate with in there and refill/make new batch as it gets used up throughout the day. All you do is warm up the formula when needed or give cold if your LO doesnt mind. No need to try to mess with powder and water and mixing them when u have a hungry baby waiting.

We use bottle or the gallon baby water with my son we didn’t warm up but my daughter like warm . Lady at that Wic said to boil water to sterilize the formula didn’t do with son

We use a baby brezza or just bottled spring water that’s room temperature if we are out and about. So the baby brezza is just our house filtered water that sits so it ends up being room temp. Our pediatrician basically told us we COULD buy the gallon jugs of nursery water, but how do we know if it’s truly sterilized and unless your home water is unsafe, your baby should be fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

We just use the filtered water that comes out of our fridge. We put the powder in and she drinks it. We don’t even warm it up because she doesn’t care what temperature it is lol I’ve never used nursery water, but I don’t think it needs to be boiled and can be used as-is.
