Do you think “leaps” (from wonder weeks) are valid/real!

There is a book, and I recommend it. I didn’t use or rely on the app. But the book was suuuuuuper useful with my son, because it gave some insight on why our baby might be going through a fussier phase or suddenly isn’t sleeping well. It was pretty darn accurate for my son, and we definitely noticed new “skills” or leaps he’s acquire around the “leap” periods mentioned, and it didn’t ALWAYS correlate to fussiness. It was actually quite interesting.

I believed in them at first, when my daughter was first born and always fussy and I was looking for an explanation as to why. Then I eventually realized that my daughter’s behavior never changed with these “leaps.” I think I was just looking for any explanation to explain her constant fussiness so I was ready to believe anything. 
Also, the doctor who created these leaps was later disproven by his own PhD student.

But did my baby go through them near those weeks? Yup. Not spot on... however... those changes in development happened at similar times to when the weeks were, and her behaviour changed in her way.

While I think there's some truth behind it, I do feel that it's a mental thing as well. I see moms on here constantly obsessing over the leaps so they go into certain weeks already expecting the worst from their baby because that's what the app is telling them to expect. Then the week sucks because they already have this negative mindset about their child. But the wonder weeks app doesn't look at each child as an individual. It just puts every baby into the same category and claims every single baby is going to be fussy during the same weeks of life. It's super generic. Yes, things like growth spurts can play a role in a child's mood and sleep but not every child is going to follow exactly what this app says. Our daughter very rarely matched up with the app.

Depending on what the focus of your question is-- I think the idea of leaps is definitely legitimate. The specific timing is an estimate & of course babies differ in the exact age that they reach milestones etc.

There isn't any scientific evidence I've found that backs them up. I mean, there's the developmental stages and what not. I have four kids and never noticed that their behaviour ever aligned with the "leaps" or "regressions". Honestly I think it's a gimmick used to get new parents to subscribe to the app, read the articles (click ads) and basically tune in and make them money

Nope. I have no clue what these leaps are or what happens 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ But apparently some are very horrible? How? 🤷🏻‍♀️
