It's when you're both communicating your love physically through sex. It's rhythmic like your bodies are in harmony almost. Hard to explain. Me and my man have passionate sex and sometimes we just fuck. I personally love both.

I like rough and fast paced sex. I've always associated passionate sex with slower sex. I don't know why. If it's about the speed, then rarely would we have "passionate" sex. But I know there is more to being passionate than that, so if it's about other stuff, I would say it's passionate. He won't cum until I do because he wants to focus on my pleasure first.
