What does this look like?

I went to the pediatrician yesterday and she said it was hives. He’s been on Benadryl for 24 hours.

Hey a second opinion. Bring him to urgent Care. Like another commenter said, Benadryl does not always stop hives, just relieves itching.

I had scarlet fever once, it didn’t look like this. I had a 105 fever and I was hospitalized. Is there a fever? The bumps I had were raised and not this many

I am a nurse and I would get a second opinion somewhere else as Scarlet Fever can be very dangerous. Does he have a fever, chills, loss of appetite, stomach pain, or sore throat? They also get very lethargic. Urgent care would be your best option and if there is none, I would take him to the ER. My little one had SF but the only other symptoms he had other than the rash was a sore throat and loss of appetite.

I don't know what it could be, but if this were my child I would most definitely go to either ER or Urgent care for a second opinion/evaluation. Hope he gets better soon!

Looks like scarlet fever to me ... very contagious if it is will spread quick !

I have severe allergies, and my hives don't look like this and benadryl makes them go away within the hour. However, everyone is different. His body could just respond differently than mine. I would get a second opinion.

There is much more to scarlet fever than a rash so nobody on here can answer that. If he's been seen by the pediatrician, you should always defer to the medical professionals rather than a bunch of strangers online. And Benadryl isn't always going to alleviate hives.
