Switching from shot to pill

I’m changing my birth control and I know the shot fucked my cycle up. With being put on the pill now will it regulate my cycle again? I’ve heard stories of people saying it took months to years to having a normal cycle after getting off the shot, but what about going from the shot directly to the pill?
