IUI input?

Question

How many rounds of iui do your clinics recommend before giving up on it? Do your chances increase or decrease with each round? Is it helpful to take a month or two off between rounds vs back to back, or does it make no difference? Just curious what you guys have been told. TIA!

After trying medicated cycles, we discussed iui vs. Ivf.  Iui has no greater chance of success than conceiving naturally, so there really isn't any increase to your chances.  Ivf has a much higher success rate.  My doc let us choose, but we were over trying things with small chances of success, so we skipped iui.  Currently pregnant from our first ivf cycle.  
My clinic will do 3 iui if you would like before highly recommending moving on to ivf.

We have MFI and after two our doctor asked if we wanted to jump to IVF and we both said yes. He didn’t think the third one would be worth it.

3. I didn’t go that route, I went straight to IVF, but that was our average. For me, I felt like it would just be wasted time, plus there was a higher chance of twins (esp with me having an over abundance of eggs) and only a 10-20% chance it would work, so I’m very glad I went straight to IVF.

3-5 usually. It doesn’t necessarily help to take time off. It’s not as intense as IVF where breaks are helpful. It kind of depends on what meds you use tho. 
I got pregnant on my 4th IUI. I did it with left over IVF meds after failing IVF. (I did 2 IUIs before IVF and 2 before). So IUIs are very special to me. It worked when all else failed.

My doctor asked us what we wanted. He said he’d be comfortable with us going up to 5 rounds before moving on, but the ball was in our court. However, we decided that if we do not conceive again with clomid/Provera/timed intercourse by the end of 2020, we were going straight to IVF. We do not seem to have an issue getting pregnant, just staying pregnant so IUI seems like a waste of time for us.

My fertility doctor would do up to 6 rounds of IUI unless you wanted to move on sooner. I got pregnant my second round. They say your chances increase with each cycle as your body regulates to the meds. We did them back to back.

The statistics say 3 is the best and your chances greatly decrease after that. My three failed and now we are waiting on ivf.

I’m on round two now. Mentally, I had to take time off after the first failed, but now I would do the next immediately after if this round doesn’t work. I think it’s just personal preference for you.

Three in a row and then i moved to Ivf. Did a fourth when my Ivf retrieval was cancelled and that didn’t work either. The reason to do more depends on what your fertility issues are.

I have unexplained infertility and did 3 rounds of IUI. None were successful. I am now getting my fallopian tubes checked to see if they're blocked even when my dr says there's no reason they would be but why else cant I get pg? TTC for 3 1/2 yrs now. I thought for sure IUI would work for me 😭 I was hoping for twins
