TMI- HELP! Yeast infection? Or BV??

Tmi warning- sorry in advance. So I've been super itchy down there (mostly further up by my urethra more than my vagina- pretty sure it's not a UTI). I've also had an increase in some clearish discharge, and felt some uterine spasm ish stuff. I've never had a yeast infection or bv. I bought monistat 3 (3 doses) and then did some research that if you have BV (bacterial vaginosis- bacterial infection) monistat won't clear it up and I'll have to see a doctor. My question is, how do I know which I have??? And should I just start the monistat and if it doesnt improve go to the doctor? Would the monistat make the BV worse if that's what it is?? Please help! Thank you!
