Baby detergent? Or Gain Detergent ?

I’m having trouble deciding which one to use to wash baby clothes. Does it really matter which one we use? I’m second time mom and with my first one I always washed his new born and all of his clothes with whatever detergent I would use. Now this time around my husband wants to buy Baby Detergent & Baby Softener to wash her clothes lol, I feel like he’s going to extra with this baby and was wondering should I just go with what he wants ? Does it makes a different if I use baby detergent or not ?

I was thinking using the detergent I use which is (Gain) and just adding the baby softener at the end so it can smell like baby?

How do you ladies wash your new born clothes or toddler clothes ?
