Should I keep waiting?

6 years together, two beautiful daughters (3 and 4 months), a home with all the furnishings, vehicles, bills, and........... still. no. ring. No marriage, no proposal, no engagement. When I ask he always says “I’m ain’t ever getting married *hahaha*.” Or “you know I wanna marry you babe....” But yet, here we are. We’ve had a rocky relationship. Separated a few times. But we always find ourselves right back to one another because we do love each other. I can honestly say that, IF we hadn’t had our girls, I’d have probably left him by now. 6 years and all of the crap is a long time to wait for a commitment that seems like is never coming. So my question, would you stay? Should I keep waiting?

So I guess the question is how important marriage is to you.

Unfortunately, when he's already got you living with him and you have kids together, there's really no incentive for him to marry you at this point because he's got a wife without the actual commitment.

How would you truly feel if you never got married? I’d personally be upset. Doing all the wife duties and never getting the proper title for it. A ring isn’t just a ring. It’s a symbol of your love and of your forever. I’d also want the ring and the life long commitment.

At this point, why bother?  You already have the house and kids, he’s got no real motivation to propose.  Personally, I wouldn’t have had kids or stuck around that long without commitment. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have a friend who has waited 18 years for a ring. They have no children together, but she refuses to leave him because she still has hope the ring will come. 
I had a child with my ex, a ring on my finger, a date picked out, and I left before we got married because I knew it wasn’t what I needed in the end.
You can stay and keep hoping, or you can leave and find what you need if it’s a deal breaker.
A wedding is one day, a marriage is for a lifetime. Is it the wedding day experience you want, or the man you’re with?

I guess I'd ask myself...is that what I really want in life? If I was treated well, was happy, and felt satisfied in my relationship...I don't think it would matter to me if I was married. But I see that for some people it means a lot. Figure out what you need. I personally wouldn't give up a good generous man who loved me and doted upon me, who worked hard and respected me and our kids just because I didn't have a ring on my finger. Sounds like maybe he isn't meeting your needs in other ways..in which case why bother with a ring. Go find what you need.

Sit down and have a serious conversation about this. Where do you see yourself in 3, 5, 10 years? Where does he? Is he against marriage or anti-wedding or is it something else? And hash out what you are going to do if you break up vs if you stay. Ask yourself if you are getting what you need from this relationship or not.

These stories are always sad. The day you leave, he'll find another girl and marry her in less than a year. I've seen it happen quite a few times. 
You should have asserted yourself before you started living together and had babies, but you didn't so you have to decide if you're okay with leaving it all. Don't feel too bad--you're not the first and you won't be the last. 
Teach your daughters to hold a man accountable.

Is not being married a deal breaker for you? I wouldn’t go straight into ultimatums. I would sit down with him and have a honest talk, no emotion and see if it’s something he wants as well. Once you do that I would make a decision.

I wouldn’t leave but that’s because I couldn’t care less for a ring. I prefer bracelets anyways
