when do you take away night feedings?

my son is 13 months and i’m just wondering. he doesn’t sleep through the night he wakes up about 1-2 times a night. should i replace water with milk?

We stopped night feedings at 6 months when pediatrician said they can easily eat their last meal when they go down for the night and not NEEED a feeding.

I didn't do night time feedings since my daughter was like 6 months maybe I'd try introducing a snack an hour or so before bedtime, and giving water in sippy cups afterwards.

My ped recommends not stopping before 1 at the YOUNGEST. But doesnt agree with stopping them if yiur child wakes for it.

I will never take away night feedings. My girl can nurse whenever she wants.

I stopped when I realized she was using me to fall back to sleep and wasn’t actually hungry (I nursed her). She was 8 months. She clearly wasn’t waking out of hunger otherwise I wouldn’t have stopped the night feedings, but she would wake up multiple times just to nurse for a couple minutes in order to fall back to sleep. It took 1 night of not giving in and she’s been a very sound sleeper since, she is 13 months and has slept 12-13 hours every night since 8 months.

Ask your pediatrician.  Mine said no longer necessary in the 6 month range.  At his one year appointment, he also told us we could drop the bottle before bedtime.  We have not dropped the bedtime bottle because it is part of his nightly routine and I love that he sleeps through the night!!

My baby did it on her own at about 3 1/2 - 4 months. She was gaining weight just fine so her pediatrician said to let her sleep 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m not complaining!

I never stopped their night feeds they just started to sleep through the night. First was at 2 months and the second was at 2 weeks. I’m sure 1 year is the norm though I think. My friend got told to swap milk for water and in the night but give a higher feed before bed. Cause then baby won’t associate night time as feeding time but rather go to bed on a full tummy and wake up at a time for breakfast.
