Red paint or dark stained table?

Question

So we just got this coffee table (pic 1) for our living room. My inital idea was to paint it red to compliment the pillows (pic 2) sort of like the 3rd picture. But I purchased this dark stain and i love dark stained wood (pic 4). 
So should I do the red paint for the table or the dark stain?

In short no. I think you could accomplish the look your going for with a red runner on the table. Also adding red accent pillows. 
That table will not hold paint. Stain yes but not a layer of paint on top a table. It will start scratching off.

You could try Plasti dip just in case you don't love it it's reversible

Also vote dark stain. I think you'll be happier with it in the long run.

Honestly I like the pop of colour but it looks like a good piece of furniture and the dark stain would be timeless. So I pick the timeless dark stain.
