Please help a confused mama "baby helmet"
Hi all! I will make this as short as possible.
I am the mother of 2 amazing littles my daughter is 4yrs old and my son is 10mo.
Both amazing and both so different.
Here is what I'm having a hard time with. At my sons 2mo appointment the doctor mentioned his head was a little flat on the back but that it was normal due to baby sleeping a lot on that one side and being he was so tiny still and not being an active baby yet it was nothing to worry about. So we just watched it and practice rotating babies head to the side while sleeping etc. At his 4mo appointment his improvement was huge the dr was amazed and said we would just continue to do as we were doing. Sounds great right. 6 mo appointment comes and dr said the same thing. And then came 9mo appointment keeping in mind baby is growing great he is healthy super active now crawling using both sides of his body equally standing says mama dada papa and tons of babbles super happy always smiling and laughing, well the dr is still happy with his head progress but suggested that being he had it being a bit flatter when younger to visit a therapist just to make sure everything is in order. So I make my appointment with the therapist and at this point baby is 10mo she takes his measurements asked me tons of questions, she told me he is developing exceptionally no worries or concerns at all. Now according to her measurements numbers and scale baby falls on number 2 category (1 being good nothing wrong normal and 5 being very severe) so her number say 92% is good and he is at a 95% so just slightly off a little flatness in the back. Now what has me confused and upset is she explained to me that normally after 12 to 18mo they dont treat this anymore with baby helmets and that would just be his head shape for the rest of his life. At his stage she explains he has no severe diagnose and or future complications it's just cosmetic the only thing that can be a issue later on would be as he grows older and would need a football helmet etc and it fitting properly this was just an example not a 100% thing right just generally speaking. If I go the helmet route I need to start asap as he is almost a year old and as mentioned after 12 to 18 mo they dont do anything. Hubby thinks it's not necessary but I just want to make the best decision ever for my baby.
If anyone has any input I would sure appreciate it thanks. Here is my handsome little man
