How do you deal with breast engorgement?

Question

My baby used to nurse every 2 hours or so at night, now she is starting to sleep 4-5 hours and my breasts are so engorged and leak everywhere by the time she wakes up to feed. And I only feed on one breast at a time. How are you ladies dealing with that, especially those of you with babies sleeping through the night? I really don’t want to pump in the middle of the night 😣

During the day I do just one side per feeding but at night I either do both sides for a shorter time or I use my Haaka on the side he doesn't nurse on.

Pumping in the middle of the night will help maintain your supply. Night feeds and pumps are also very important for keeping your period from coming back, if you like that perk of nursing 😉 my daughter slept really well for her first 4 months and my period came back 9 weeks postpartum.  When she started sleeping badly again at 4 months old, my period went away for 8 more months!

I get about 6 hours straight of sleep and my boobs are rock solid so I pump and then feed baby so I dont drown him. I super over produce... during the day I feed on one breast and use a haakaa on the other. My freezer is full because of this!

Breast pads and I pump once a day to empty when she’s napping. Some mornings I have to manual pump to take the edge off the breast she didn’t eat from during the night.

I have mine eat off of both sides at one session so neither one feels like it is about to explode.
Also, I pump after her last feed before bed so I won't be so full going into the night, then I also pump after our first morning feed to relieve some of the engorgement. It is actually the only two times a day that I pump.
