If its dry cherrios or something like chicken nuggets, yes. If it's something wet/has sauce like mac and cheese, no.

99% of the time they’ve already grabbed it and put it back in their mouth/swallowed it before I could get it away from them anyway lol

No. I have two cats and as clean as cats can be, they still stand in their litterbox and have fecal matter or traces of urine on their paws. 
My 15 month old only eats in his highchair and my 3 year old only eats at his table, so I don't have issues yet with food being on the floor for them to get to. Except when my 15 month old drops food from his highchair but I clean that before I get him down. 
The only exception where I may not have such a problem with it is in the bedroom where my cats are not allowed. But I don't let them eat in the bedroom or anywhere other than their respective meal places, so it hasn't come up.

I clean my floors pretty often and I don’t have pets so yeah I usually do lol my daughter throws or drops so much food on the floor so if I didn’t then we would put so much food in the trash
