Ladies, I have what may be a dumb question...

As tax season approaches, everyone tells me I should be looking forward to a higher refund because of my child. (I knew about that) but someone told me I get a child care credit on top of that? That’s where I am lost. (ftm here so I am going to file my taxes, jointly with my husband) do I get credits for both simply having a child, and a child credit (our total daycare bill since last year was $7,117, just got our EOY statements) or is it one or the other?

Thanks in advance! (I am also aware that I can ask my tax professional, but I kind of want to hear feedbacks from fellow parents)
