Marriage?

Question

So l have been thinking a lot about marriage. What actually signifies that two people become married, by a christian standpoint. Is a wedding necessary? It says nothing in the bible about an actual marriage ritual. If two people live together, love each other, have children together would God consider them married? Or is a wedding necessary. Please give me your thoughts.

A wedding isn’t necessary no. But it is important to put Christ as the center of your marriage no matter what. For my husband and I’s wedding, we did the knot braid. So you braid 3 strands (you, spouse and Jesus) to bind the 3 of you together for eternity. The verse is Ecclesiastes 3:4 I think. We made God a huge part of our wedding and that was important to us. Becoming “one” means becoming one together in Christ. Walking with Him together as husband and wife. Praying together, putting his needs before yours, relying on God to strengthen your marriage and help it anytime it’s suffering! Marriage is a beautiful design God created and becoming 1 is such a wonderful thing too.

I would say that a culturally established marriage is the important part. While the Bible didn't go into the specifis of marriage ceremonies, it does speak about married couples in the terms of husband and wife which are understood to be a couple who went through a ceremony/rite of some sort to religiously/socially bind them together. Not just "we love eachother, live together, and have kids".

The importance of marriage is taking a vow before your spouse and God. During this your promise to love one another no matter what happens and that vow is what binds you together. A formal wedding is not required.

A wedding is not necessarily. You can have Preacher to come and do yall vowels.  Or you can do them after church one day with your preacher.
