Pediatrician said baby NEEDS to start rice cereal by 6 months

Does anyone know if this is true? Our pediatrician said since my baby is EBF, he has to start rice cereal so he can get some iron in his diet. If so, does it have to be rice cereal? I’ve only heard bad things about it 😕
