I am 28 & have no career 😔
I graduated hs in 2009. HS wasn’t the easiest for me, due to my epilepsy, but I did it & graduated on time. I didn’t go to college straight out of his, I gave myself some time off from school & worked a PT job for an after school program.
In 2012, I made the decision to go to college. I wanted to major in nursing, but I knew due to my low hs gpa, no nursing program would accept me. I decided to go to a medical assistant 2yr program to get my gpa up. This college was private a very expensive, for a 2yr program, but I did it. In 2015 I graduated with honors, my AS degree & a gpa of 3.7.
That fall I transferred to a bigger college (private, there are not a lot of cc around me), for health science, because I decided to get my masters in physician assisting, before I found out that program cost $120k. Once I found that out I would have just changed my major to nursing, but at the time this college did not offer a BSN program. I graduated in 2018 with my BS.
After graduating, I became very confused & unsure of what to do. I took some time off to really sit back & think about what I wanted. I realized now that’s nursing. I didn’t know where to begin though because I already have an undergraduate degree, I knew my student loans would eventually kick in, so I decided to finish one more prereq & apply to a 2yr rn program. This specific program allows you to finish your prereqs after you have been accepted & it’s a cc.
To make a long story short, I was denied from that program, due to a low entrance exam score & they only take the best of the best. I found out 2 months ago that the school I received my BS, has started a second degree bsn program (for students with a undergrad degree already). I am now about to take my last prereq this month & apply to this program & their request BSN program as well (so I won’t put all my eggs in one basket). However, I am extremely nervous. Nervous about my loans, nervous about getting accepted. I’m feeling scared.
Any advice on what I should do? Should I apply to more programs, should I have a plan b, just in case? If so, idk what I should do in the healthcare field. I know the healthcare field is for me that’s where my heart is. I’m feeling defeated for being almost 29yrs old without a real career. I work 2 pt times at the moment, but I want something permanent, a career that will make me happy & that my family can be proud of.
Sorry for the long post I just wanted to vent lol
