How could you be a Christian AND a liberal? Sounds like an oxymoron

With society today, it's very liberal with "gay rights" and what not. But Christians do not agree with homosexuality (Sodom and Gomorrah). This is just an example.

I think some people are starting to stop following the bible and they are creating their own rules because the bible don't agree with their sins. It's the only thing I can think of.

Some might call me liberal as I have some more liberal views. For me, I don’t agree with abortion or homosexuality, but it is not my place to judge nor to condemn. I don’t believe a law will fix these issues, so the legal system is not the place to address them. These types of issues can only be addressed on personal levels and handled with love and compassion. I don’t have to agree with someone’s choice to support their freedom to make it.

I'm strongly Christian, and gradually becoming more liberal in some things. For me, it has more to do with freedom of choice, as well as not judging others. So for me, we are all here to make choices and learn through that. It's none of my business what others use their freedom of choice for (so long as it doesn't affect another person's freedom to choose). I also realize that just because I don't understand homosexuality on a personal level, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I don't think I'm qualified to judge something I don't fully understand. And, if I did understand it, I likely wouldn't be negatively judging those who do. 
So I'm not super liberal, but I do think it's possible to be both liberal and Christian at the same time.

Most professing Christian liberals do not follow the bible. The only bible verses they know are, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," and "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son for our salvation." And they think that verses like that are excuses for them to continue to engage in, promote and support sin. It IS an oxymoron to be a liberal Christian because Christians are the original conservatives. All of the social conservative values are from Christianity being a big part of society at one point and didn't start to really disappear until the 20th century.

Society has shifted from conservative to liberal throughout the decades. But that doesn’t have to affect what you choose to do in your home regarding homosexuality. If you practice what the Bible teaches, you can disagree completely with that lifestyle choice & still show the love of Christ toward people who do choose that life.
It’s not within the Christian margins to judge anyone in or out of the church. It’s God’s job & His job alone to address those hearts & souls. It’s our job to love them.
