Herpes

I’m only educated to extent on herpes. So I went out with this dude who didn’t have any sores visible. I let him kiss and suck on my neck. And my cheek. And about few days later saw him with a Cold sore. That’s all we did. I didn’t kiss him on the lips, but now I’m freaking out. What does this all mean. I’m going to doctor to see if I was exposed to hsv2. I know most of the population has hsv1 but is there anyone on her educate don this matter or someone who has herpes! Pleasee let me know. I recently had sex with an ex and I’m over thinking I should let him know someone kissed my neck who I later found out had a sore.
