someone told me you can have a period and be pregnant well my last period was 3 days late but i bled way more than usual can i still be pregnant?

You medically and scientifically cannot have a period and be pregnant.
Many women do experience bleeding in early pregnancy, but it is very different from a period. 
Your period is the shedding of the lining of your uterus. It does this when there is no fertilized egg that has been implanted.

However, you may experience a few spotting, implantation bleeding, that’s pretty much it. Anything “heavy” or like your “period” while you are pregnant:
