Pacifier weaning?

I know the experts recommend eliminating the pacifier at 6 months...anyone planning to do this? I don't want LO dependent on it for sleep but it works SO WELL lmao.

They can use it for stressful situations and sleep for longer than 6 months. I read about it the other day because I was curious. They recommend weaning a pacifier if your baby is constantly using it, and only use it during stressful times or sleep up until like ages 2-4. I don’t plan to have my son on the paci that long, but he only uses it for sleep and on long car rides. It’s not like he has it in his mouth all day long.

My girl is 5.5 months and I’m about to start eliminating it and super nervous! She’s was sleeping through the night great and I would maybe have to go pop it back in once a night every once in awhile but it’s been getting worse...last night she woke up 6 times wanting it back! This morning I said nope not doing that again lol

So our sleep program says to stop at 4 months. We did it cold turkey and only needed it once for medical reasons - stuck at a cabin on thanksgiving. Babe had a double ear infection with a cold and was screaming at the top of her lungs. We brought it just in case and am so thankful. It brought her some peace until we could get her to the doctors (we left immediately that morning as she got sick at night) and headed straight for meds. 
Otherwise we haven’t seen the paci since then. You can do it! Might be a rough day or two but it’ll be great once it’s gone. 
My best friend just had her little get rid of it at age 3! You can imagine the tantrums.

Oof. Our girl this past week has finally associated the pacifier with sleep and now wants NOTHING to do with it. Which is cool and all that we won’t have to fight getting rid of it later, but also a bummer because now we get to figure out new ways to calm her to sleep. She’s fighting sleep HARD these days. 😴

We eliminated at 4 months and now he falls asleep easily on his own. Wish we did it earlier with our first kid (who self weaned at 6 months, so wasn’t that much longer).

My son since he was born never wanted it until 4 months he took it because he was teething and bottom teeth came out but now I only give it to him to fall asleep but he spits it out as soon as he falls asleep never when he’s awake he stays entertained eating his toys or teethers haha but definitely don’t want to be that mom that has a 3/4 yo that still has a pacifier I think that’s weird 🤷🏻‍♀️
