Can our little ones have nightmares at this age?

I ask because my little lady has been waking up screaming after an hour of sleeping and I will wait 5-10 minutes but if it’s a really hard cry, I go and get her. Let me know your thoughts.

I actually googled this because after my daughter had her tongue/lip tie repair I swear to god she was having some sort of PTSD or something! Babies can definitely dream and have nightmares.

My son has woken up these past two nights crying really hard. I think it’s due to his teething though. He’s tired and doesn’t necessarily want to be up but his gums are irritating him so he cries really hard.

My son doesn’t usually wake up at night. We typically put him down at 7:30. The other night he woke up at 11:20pm SCREAMING. It was a cry I’d never heard before, he sounded terrified? It made me sick to my stomach. It took us about ten minutes to calm him down and console him. It hasn’t happened again since. I’m convinced it was a nightmare. I really don’t know what else it would have been.

Amelia wakes an hour after I put her down every night, I just have to go back and cuddle/rock her back to sleep again. But I’m not doing sleep training
