Why is my cycle so inconsistent?

My cycle is going crazy, in the past year it has ranged from 17-45 days between periods.
Will this make it hard to conceive? Would I actually have ovulated on the date the app says since AF came 10 days after my apparent ovulation date?

Because you’re so irregular the app won’t be able to help with ovulation prediction, and it will be hard to conceive because you won’t be able to tell when you’re ovulating, you can try OPKs, but aren’t as reliable with irregular cycles.

It's actually easier to conceive with a longer cycle, provided you ovulate early enough in it. A longer luteal phase is much better than a shorter one.
But you'll need to start tracking your cycle with tests and such now to figure out when you ovulate because you don't have a typical cycle.
